First breathe Deep controlled breaths. Try this for a few minutes
A newtons cradle has been a life saver for me. It gives me a focal point for my awareness. I'll use the cradle a dozen or more times with my breathing to try and shift my focus and regain calmness.
Next try MUSIC. This almost always works for me The idea is to shift your focus. I put on whatever pumps me up and gets me singing and moving. Play it LOUD! Lose yourself in the music ;-)
As a last measure try getting in the tub. Turn on the shower full blast all the way on cold and jump in. Don't hesitate! The shock of the cold water WILL pull your focus. Try counting slowly and relax
